John R. McKivigan, the Mary O’Brien Gibson Professor of History at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, and Heather L. Kaufman, an experienced Sociology researcher based in Indianapolis will edit the Encyclopedia of American Reform Movements. McKivigan has edited numerous scholarly reference works on nineteenth-century United States history, specializing in the subjects of race and ethnic relations, labor movements, and American reform campaigns. Kaufman’s research expertise is in twentieth-century social movements and political institutions and she has extensive experience utilizing internet-based social science resources. These complimentary talents enhance the Editors’ ability to write the synthetic Introduction for the Encyclopedia, conceptualize the Encyclopedia’s entries, recruit talented scholars to prepare those entries, and copy edit the final text for the work.
